Snowing!

It's been snowing off and on for the last couple of days here in Fairbanks.  And I'm loving it!!!  After spending the last 3 and a half months here I still love it when it snows.  It's always on the ground, but it's still so nice to watch it fall too.  I'll be back in WA for a while and have to adjust to the rain again.  I think I might like the snow better.  It sure is going to be a change in the temperature in WA.  It's been staying about 10 degrees here.  WA is going to be so much warmer!

Update from Alaska

I keep forgetting to post things on here too, not just Facebook.  :-)  Last weekend it was -51 and today it is 20.  Talk about a big difference in the temperature! Rosie and Merlin are getting bigger but are still adorable.  Dustin started school and is enjoying it so far.  He is taking 18 credits so has a lot to keep him busy.  Here is an updated picture of the 'kids'.

Dustin has also been busy building more shelves for the house.  It is giving us a lot more storage space.  Overall, things continue to be good here in Alaska.

Ice Fishing

Dustin and his Dad went ice fishing last night.  They left super late and stayed up all night and morning on the lake.  They said it was intense.  It was very cold and windy.  The ice and lake made a lot of strange noises while it was re-freezing.  Yesterday it was raining for the first part of the day so there was a layer slush on top.  Neither of them said it was something they are really interested in going to do again.  The fish weren't biting either.  They said it would have been a little better had they caught more fish, it would have kept them busy and distracted from the cold.  I'm glad I didn't go.  It sounds like I would have been miserable.

Megan's bday

Megan spent her birthday with us this year.  A totally new experience for her (all of us actually).  It was about -40 degrees in Fairbanks.  Spent the morning on the road from Tok to Fairbanks.  Took her out to Thai for dinner, well take out that is.  Got the food to go and hung out in the hotel room.  Maybe not the most exciting but still a totally new and different experience for her.  Here is a picture of the Thai food after the first round for us.  Only a tiny bit of it made it to leftovers.
